Rajasthan is the one of the Richest cultural heritage of this world. The desert like climate, harsh living conditions, scorching sunlight, monotonous shades of brown have no effect on the bright culture of this state. Rather it makes Rajasthan a land of surprises. The beautiful interlaced culture and land have astouned the whole world. This state is the state of Princes. Its culture is dominated with royal and lavish lifestyles of kings. Even the festivals are celebrated with such a pomp n show that takes back in the era of kings. Splash of glittering colors in each and every part of life is spectacular.

Rajsthani culture holds traditional values, modern adaptations and warmth in itself. Its tradition can be captured at its festive best at the fairs and festivals which are dazzingly theatrical and lively. Festivals here are marked with foot thumping music, traditional dances and people from all walks of life. The major fairs are Pushkar fair, Gangaur, Kaila Devi fair, Brij festival, Kajli teej, Urs, Elephant festival at jaipur, Gogaji fair, Camel Festival at Bikaner and Mewar festival.

Different rites and rituals are followed all through the state by the people during these festivals. For instance Gangaur festival is celebrated by the women folk who worship Gauri, the consort of Lord Shiva. On this day ladies decorate their hands and feet with Mehendi (myrtle pate). Similarly Pushkar fair is all about trading of camels. Camels are brought, sold, decked up and paraded on sandunes, presenting a picturesque sight. Body tattoing is also very famous during this fair.

The Richness of culture is seen in royal cuisine of this state. Its cooking is influenced by war-like lifestyle of its inhabitants and availability of ingredients in this region. Princely kitchens have produced many an incomparable and exotic delicacy of shikar meat. The smoked Rajasthani kebab - sule - is bare-be-cued in about a dozen different ways.

At many places milk, buttermilk and clarified butter is used instead of water. Gram flour is a major ingredient here and some special dishes such as gatta ki sabji, pakodi, mangodi and khata. Rabdi, kheechdi and rotis are made of Bajra and corn. Chutneys also form a important part of food. Thus, mouthwatering chutney's are made of turmeric, corriander, mint and garlic. The most exciting diet here is of Dal, Bati and Churma - served with a lot of ghee and hospitality of Rajasthanis.

Rajasthani dresses are eyecatching and now a days a part of elite life. Men wear different types of multicolored turbans on their heads, dhotti and kurta. While the women wear lavishly emroidered lehanga n kurti and multicolored duppttas. Footwears consists of 'jootis' made up of camel leather. These jootis are beautifully intircated with gold and colorful threads. These are comfortable and fashionable. Both men and women are adorned with jewellery. Silver jewellery, stone jewellery, meenakari are world famous.
