Rajasthan is the one of the Richest cultural heritage of this world.
The desert like climate, harsh living conditions, scorching sunlight,
monotonous shades of brown have no effect on the bright culture
of this state. Rather it makes Rajasthan a land of surprises. The
beautiful interlaced culture and land have astouned the whole world.
This state is the state of Princes. Its culture is dominated with
royal and lavish lifestyles of kings. Even the festivals are celebrated
with such a pomp n show that takes back in the era of kings. Splash
of glittering colors in each and every part of life is spectacular.

Rajsthani culture holds traditional values, modern adaptations
and warmth in itself. Its tradition can be captured at its festive
best at the fairs and festivals which are dazzingly theatrical and
lively. Festivals here are marked with foot thumping music, traditional
dances and people from all walks of life. The major fairs are Pushkar
fair, Gangaur, Kaila Devi fair, Brij festival, Kajli teej, Urs,
Elephant festival at jaipur, Gogaji fair, Camel Festival at Bikaner
and Mewar festival.

Different rites and rituals are followed all through
the state by the people during these festivals. For instance Gangaur
festival is celebrated by the women folk who worship Gauri, the
consort of Lord Shiva. On this day ladies decorate their hands and
feet with Mehendi (myrtle pate). Similarly Pushkar fair is all about
trading of camels. Camels are brought, sold, decked up and paraded
on sandunes, presenting a picturesque sight. Body tattoing is also
very famous during this fair.

The Richness of culture is seen in royal cuisine of this state.
Its cooking is influenced by war-like lifestyle of its inhabitants
and availability of ingredients in this region. Princely kitchens
have produced many an incomparable and exotic delicacy of shikar
meat. The smoked Rajasthani kebab - sule - is bare-be-cued in about
a dozen different ways.

At many places milk, buttermilk and clarified butter
is used instead of water. Gram flour is a major ingredient here
and some special dishes such as gatta ki sabji, pakodi, mangodi
and khata. Rabdi, kheechdi and rotis are made of Bajra and corn.
Chutneys also form a important part of food. Thus, mouthwatering
chutney's are made of turmeric, corriander, mint and garlic. The
most exciting diet here is of Dal, Bati and Churma - served with
a lot of ghee and hospitality of Rajasthanis.

Rajasthani dresses are eyecatching and now a days a part of elite
life. Men wear different types of multicolored turbans on their
heads, dhotti and kurta. While the women wear lavishly emroidered
lehanga n kurti and multicolored duppttas. Footwears consists of
'jootis' made up of camel leather. These jootis are beautifully
intircated with gold and colorful threads. These are comfortable
and fashionable. Both men and women are adorned with jewellery.
Silver jewellery, stone jewellery, meenakari are world famous.
